Children’s faith formation.

Children’s faith formation, designed for grades pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, presents the basic elements of the Catholic faith in a loving, prayerful, and interactive environment.

Children in faith formation are guided through the process of receiving the following Sacraments:

First Reconciliation

Faith formation students in second grade or older are eligible to receive First Reconciliation in conjunction with their curriculum. Catechesis includes six at-home lessons turned in online to the Sacrament Coordinator. Preparation also includes a parent meeting, workshop and rehearsal. The Liturgy for First Reconciliation is in November. For more information about when your child can receive First Reconciliation, contact Director of Education Michael V. Novak at (248) 219-8438

First Communion

Faith formation students in second grade or older are eligible to receive First Holy Communion in conjunction with their curriculum. Catechesis includes six at-home lessons turned in online to the Sacrament Coordinator. Preparation also includes a parent meeting, workshop and rehearsal. The Mass for First Holy Communion is in November.

For more information about when your child can receive First Communion, contact Director of Education Michael V. Novak at (248) 219-8438

Middle school faith formation.

Our seventh and eighth grade faith formation program uses a dynamic curriculum designed to touch the hearts of our young people and help them make an informed decision about becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. Teens learn about the love of Christ through both large and small group experiences. Small group leaders facilitate discussion to lead the students into a real-life experience with the lessons they learn.

Middle school faith formation students are guided through the process to receive the following Sacrament:

Confirmation

Faith formation students in seventh grade begin their journey through the process of Confirmation and complete it in eighth grade (or older). The process includes learning and preparing for the sacrament, a saint project, and a one-day retreat. Confirmation Mass is usually in the Fall. Upon receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, the students will then complete the catechetical year in a program titled “Fight the Good Fight”. For more information about when your child can receive Confirmation, contact Director of Education Michael V. Novak at (248) 219-8438.
